i-leadOpportunities to lead groups in school eg. Peer mediation, rights respecting school, eco group, fair trade etc.

In S6 additional leadership roles include:

The Senior Pupil Team (head boy, head girl, house captains, head prefect, head buddy, head mentor, chair of the school council), Prefects, Work experience, Mentors, Subject Ambassadors, Online Learning, SQA Leadership Award.

i-participate

Opportunities for pupils to recognise the skills and progress made in activities out with class and school. Pupils will have an awareness of all the opportunities available to them in their community and have the opportunity to reflect on these in Didbook and in conversations with their House Head.

i-valueOpportunities to contribute to charity fundraising

House Captains are the pupil representatives on the Charity Committee and promote opportunities for fundraising in their Houses.

i-voiceOpportunities to lead pupil council, be involved in school focus groups.
i-coachOpportunities for S4-S6 to coach younger pupils in sports.
i-exploreOpportunities to develop skills through Outdoor Learning.

 

i-work

This is the Employability Pathway for some pupils which includes Foundation Apprenticeships, Academies which offer HNC qualifications in Health and Social Care, Hospitality in conjunction with Queen Margaret University and Science Skills in conjunction with St John's. There are also other numerous college and training opportunities which can be found in the Senior School Prospectus, course choice booklet on the website.

In addition S4 pupils sitting N4 qualifications will have the opportunity to do an Employability Award as part of Summer School (during the month of May).

i-liveThis is the name given to the Personal Social Education (PSE) programme in the Senior Phase

In S4 pupils have 4 immersion days throughout the session, and in S5 and S6 they are timetabled for one period for half the year.

i-REspect

This is the name given to the RE programme based on Values & Beliefs in the Senior Phase. There is an SQA Award associated with this.

i-develop

Pupils in S5 will undertake an additional SQA Qualification - the Personal Development Award.  This Award promotes Employability and supports our pupils being 'post school ready'.  This is a compulsory part of the S5 timetable and can be studied at levels 4 to 6.

i-thrive

i-thrive is the course for S4 pupils allowing them to explore and improve their health and wellbeing. This course can gain a SQA Award in Wellbeing levels 3-5.

i-reflect

These are the opportunities that all senior pupils have to reflect on their progress in learning, setting aspirational targets and considering study opportunities.

Some of this takes place in class time plus there are specific sessions on study support. Additionally there are opportunities to reflect on learning through Twilight and Easter classes.

This is all celebrations of learning in the Senior Phase eg Prizegiving, S6 leavers lunch, merits and sharing of achievement on the school website.
