SQA and Scottish Government are planning to hold an exam diet in April - June for all National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher subjects.
To help prepare our pupils for an exam diet we intend to hold a January Assessment - Prelim Window from Friday 14 January - Friday 28 January inclusive. The purpose of holding such a diet is to allow:
- pupils to practice under exam conditions
- teacher and pupils to have a clear error analysis of areas which require further support - allowing time for support and recovery
Most assessments will take place during class time; minimising disruption to learning and teaching. The exceptions to this are Maths and English assessments.
Key SQA Guidelines for all Assessments
- Mobile phones or any device which can access the internet should be switched off before entering an examination not left on 'silent' - such devices cannot be accessed during an assessment
- Earpieces are not permitted
Study Support
Please continue to encourage your child to access the support they need; from their class teacher in the first instance as well as accessing supported study classes available from 1 November and private study library sessions every Monday. Supported Study and Homework Club
Other information
In addition; if public health advice changes and the exam diet can no longer take place; SQA have outlined that ongoing assessment which has taken place across the academic year will be used to support a grade based on teacher judgement.
